The Black Ghosts’ “Something New” it’s a remarkable song but when it was mashed up with Lindstrom’s “ I feel space” a work of magic was created.
In “I feel space” the gift Scandinavians have shown to posses by materializing abstract concepts through creative work get’s patent; it begets a feeling of breadth. On the other hand the Black Ghosts’ production is a little disenchanted, with smart and voluptuous lyrics, perfect for nowadays.
As a matter of fact it isn’t such a common experience to have two good songs blended and have a result that is more then the mere sum of its parts, but “Something New (Galactic version)” does it, the result is simply breathtaking.
It’s outstanding how the change in the most basic layer of the songs transforms even the mood of the words, by now they aren’t disenchanted anymore, but a hopeful glance to passionate love.
Something similar happens to the extraordinary “I feel space”, which in the absence of voice may become monotonous. A lot of people may only take breadth in small doses, a visit to the countryside or an old museum, perhaps, when the voice is added a new life is injected to it.
Separately both are really good songs but by mixing them, the result adds what’s best of them, and levels up whatever they lacked. Bringing the song to a point where it becomes a truly exciting and devilish piece.
